What people come in with
Pain rarely stays where it started. A tight hip shows up as a sore back, a locked shoulder becomes a headache. Sessions run 30 to 90 minutes, and you leave knowing what to do between appointments rather than just feeling better for an afternoon.
One of Jen’s specialisms. Pain running from the lower back through the glute and down the leg, often with pins and needles.
Tension headaches and migraine that start in the neck and shoulders, and the stiffness that comes with them.
Lower back tightness that comes back every few weeks, or has simply never gone away.
Reduced range of movement, painful overhead reaching, and the neck tension that comes with it.
Hamstrings, calves and glutes. Recovery between sessions and getting back to full load safely.
Neck, upper back and jaw tightness built up over months at a screen or under pressure.
Treatments
Not sure which one to book? Ring or message and describe the problem, and Jen will tell you what would suit.
Pre-event, post-event and maintenance work for anyone training regularly. Focused on load, recovery and staying injury free.
Targeted treatment for a specific injury or restriction, including sciatica, usually across a short course of sessions with progress reviewed each time.
Slower, firmer work through the deeper muscle layers for chronic tightness that surface massage has not touched.
Full body or back, neck and shoulders. Lighter pressure, aimed at winding the nervous system down rather than chasing knots.
Suction cups used alongside hands-on work to lift tissue and improve movement in stubborn areas.
Light, rhythmic technique to encourage drainage and reduce swelling, including post-surgical recovery.
Scalp, neck, shoulders and upper back, carried out seated and clothed. Often the one people choose for tension headaches.
Adapted, gentle treatment for people going through cancer treatment or living beyond it, worked around your care and how you feel that day. Jen holds the Jennifer Young Oncology Diploma.
Also available
Used on their own or alongside hands-on treatment, depending on what the assessment turns up.
Fine needles into trigger points and tight muscle to release what hands alone will not shift. Used alongside massage rather than instead of it.
Points in the ear used to help manage persistent pain, often where other approaches have stalled.
A calming protocol used to support anxiety, low mood, sleep and sensory overload.
Ear points used to support appetite regulation as part of a wider plan.
Priced by session length rather than by treatment, so you book the time you need and Jen works to whatever the assessment turns up on the day.
| 30 minutes | One area. Good for a specific problem or a top up between longer sessions. | £40 |
|---|---|---|
| 45 minutes | Suggested for a first appointment, as it includes a full consultation before treatment. | £55 |
| 60 minutes | More ground covered, or a long standing problem that needs more than one area addressing. | £70 |
Payment on the day. If you are not sure how long to book, ring or message and Jen will tell you what she thinks you need rather than the longest slot.

About
I am a sports massage therapist with over 20 years of experience in advanced massage techniques, alongside dry needling, medical acupuncture and auricular acupuncture.
My interest came out of my own love of sport, and wanting to get back to it as quickly and safely as possible after an injury, as well as helping to prevent the next one.
I enjoy relieving other people’s pain and discomfort, because I understand fully how much it can affect your life.
JLH is just me, working out of Unit 23 at Cromar Way. The person who assesses you is the person who treats you, every time, so you are never explaining your history to someone new. And if something falls outside what massage can help with, I will tell you rather than book you in for six sessions.
Questions
If yours is not here, ring or message and ask. Jen would rather answer a question than have someone put off booking because they were not sure what to expect.
No. Most people ring or message describing the problem in ordinary words, and Jen will tell you what would suit. If you pick something on the form and it turns out another treatment fits better, she will say so before you come in.
It depends entirely on what is going on and how long it has been there. Jen will give you an honest view after assessing you rather than committing you to a block up front. Some things settle in a couple of sessions, longer standing restrictions can take a course of treatment over weeks or months.
Deep tissue and remedial work can be uncomfortable while pressure is being applied, but it should never be more than you want to tolerate. Say so during the session and the pressure changes. Some tenderness for a day afterwards is normal.
Come in whatever is comfortable. For most treatments you will undress to your underwear and be covered with towels throughout, with only the area being worked on uncovered. Indian head massage is carried out seated and fully clothed.
Mention it when you get in touch. Most conditions are fine, some need a bit of adjustment, and a small number need clearance from your GP first. Jen is VTCT and Sports UK qualified, holds the Jennifer Young Oncology Diploma and is fully insured, and she would rather know beforehand than find out on the couch.
No. Sports massage is a technique rather than a client type, and plenty of people booking it have never played a sport. The work splits fairly evenly between people training regularly and people dealing with everyday pain and tension.
Yes, there is free parking on site at Waterhouse Business Centre, so you will not be hunting for a space or feeding a meter before your appointment.
Jen arranges every appointment personally rather than through an online booking system, so call or text 07963 062311, message on WhatsApp, or email jlhtherapy@gmail.com. You can also use the form on this page to request a date and time, and she will come back to confirm it. If you need to move or cancel an appointment, let Jen know as early as you can so the slot can go to someone else.

Book a session
Jen prefers to arrange appointments personally rather than through an online booking system, so the quickest route is a call or a message. If you would rather write it down, the form sends her a request with your preferred time.
Jen reads and answers every enquiry herself, so it will not be an automated reply. She will normally come back to you within a day, and she will confirm the date and time before anything is booked in.
Need it sooner? Call or text 07963 062311 or message on WhatsApp.
